1. Describe alternative activities and assessments in the lesson plan that would allow you to meet the needs of students with differing abilities?
In order to ensure complete participation by all students, I would make sure that I am aware of Individual Education Plans of students in the class and provide the necessary interventions covered in the plan. For students without IEP's, I will make adjustments in the form of presentation, required readings, print size on handouts, and processors' for students with writing difficulty.
2. What type of additional information do you need to meet the needs of these students?
I will need to know about any medical issues or injuries which may inhibit the students performance in the class. I will also need to know if the student will be able to afford the tools needed to complete task, so that I can make provisions to supply the student with the necessary tools.
What experiences can you draw upon to identify with these students? What resources are available to help you meet these challenges?
As an individual who wears glasses, I am more cognizant of the font size I use in preparing handouts for students with vision problems. There are several ways to change the font; I can change the font in the word processing program, increase the size on the copier, or change the seating of the student to optimize their ability to see the board or video screens.
